PT101- Introduction to Pro Tools
Introduction to Pro Tools introduces students to fundamentals of studio recording. Students will work on a Macintosh Computer to learn the basics of Pro Tools.
PT102- Advanced Pro Tools
In the Advanced Pro Tools course, students will gain further knowledge of Pro Tools and apply skills learned in PT101. Students will first learn advanced file management and additional Pro Tools shortcuts. Next students will be trained to record live instrumentals, including guitar, keyboard, vocals, and drums. Students will be trained in headphone mixing and navigating patch bays. Students will sit in and assist with live recording and mixing during and after sessions.
AE101- Introduction to Audio Engineering
In AE101, students will learn the basics of Equalization and Compression. Student will be trained to recognize different frequencies in a studio setting. Students will further practice advanced recording on live drums, keyboard, guitar, and vocals. AE102- Advanced Audio Engineering
AE102 will teach students advanced Equalization,Compression, and other effects. Students will be mixing songs in a studio setting with live instrumentation using a digital console. Students will learn microphone placement and advanced headphone mixing techniques while recording live in Studio A. Students will also learn how to mic acoustic guitars, guitar amps, bass, percussion and several other live instruments. Students will be tested on ear training during sessions. MX101- Introduction to Mixing
Introduction to Mixing focuses mainly on mixing equalization and compression and using effects within a mix correctly. Students will mix various styles of songs in a studio setting with a focus on industry mixing standards. Students will be assigned specific songs to mix. Student will learn correct mix formats, file formats, standards for Itunes, and other online sales companies’ requirements.
MX102- Advanced Mixing
Advanced Mixing will provide student with further mixing, compressing, and equalizing experience. Students will continue mixing on a digital console; they will be trained in automation mixing, line mixing, and the structure of an advanced mix. Students will learn past and current styles of mixing from some of the world’s best mixing engineers. Students will each mix three songs with the instructor to add \ to student’s reel of work.
BM101- Introduction to Beat Making
BM101 is a combination of Logic Audio Classes and beat creation. Students will be taught the basics of recording in Logic with an emphasis in creating sellable beats. Students will learn to use USB keyboard to produce music. Instructor will break down the structure of beats, time signatures, and tempo changes. Students will produce one song using Logic.
BM102- Advanced Beat Making
Students will learn advanced recording in Logic with a continued emphasis on producing beats for income. Students will be taught how to start a song from scratch and work with beat and song structure. Each student will be assigned a song to reproduce. Instructor will help students identify chords and keys in song. In addition, instructor will write and produce original song with each student.
MB101- Introduction to Music Business
MB101 teaches students the basics of the music business, including the origin of the music industry, its basic structure, and the difference in its current method of operation from the past. Students will learn the basics of contracts, contract negotiation, and the flow of income in the music business. Students will be introduced to a variety of contracts currently used in the business, with access to AIT artist contracts.
MB102- Advanced Music Business
MB102 focuses on real-life experience in the daily operations of a label. Building on students’ music business knowledge gained in MB101, students will sit in on meetings between artists and CEO. After each meeting, students will have a chance to discuss with the CEO. If new contracts are being drafted by the label, students will help write drafts, using correct language and terminology and examining legal obligations of label and artist. Students will have opportunity to observe, plan, and execute many label operations, including advertisements, new hires, signing artists, music video production, artist photo shoots, physical distribution, album publishing, and more.
